Phoenix American Motorsports and Calvert Dynamics marked their first full season in Pirelli World Challenge with a four-car assault over the course of the schedule, unloading five cars at Circuit of the Americas with GT Cup, GTS and TC programs to start the year.

It was there lead driver Andrew Aquilante scored two strong podiums, putting himself in a place to challenge for the title, while teammate Kurt Rezzetano ran strong, with a top five finish in GTS, and Preston Calvert made his pro debut in both GTS and GT Cup. While all this was going on, Aquilante and Rezzetano were turning wrenches on all of the team’s entries, and engineering their own cars in a lean, professional effort trackside from Phoenix.

Later in the year, both Rezzetano and Aquilante would bring home SCCA National Championship titles with wins at the Runoffs, making Aquilante a six-time SCCA National Champion.

As the Pirelli World Challenge season went on, Aquilante and Rezzetano essentially dominated the first half of the year in GTS, with Rezzetano winning at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Aquilante at Road America, putting the team in solid control of the points at the mid-way point of the season.

Rules changes coming down by series organizers made things more difficult after Road America, however, as the team struggled at Mid-Ohio and Miller, before a solid Sonoma outing for Aquilante saw him finish third, matching the result at Laguna Seca to take second in the GTS Championship.
